Amazing night.

I stumbled across a Miss LuLu Liu while lurking about facebook this evening. Lulu Liu. Lu… Lu… Liu. Neat!
Hahahaha
The New York Times - Major Rulings of the 2007-8 Term, broken down by Justice.
Is there anything the NY Times infographic department can’t make clear at a glance? Without even reading the text, here are the things I learned from this graphic:
1) The court is relatively conservative.
2) Ruth Bader Ginsburg is the most liberal justice.
3) Anthony Kennedy was the swing vote.
4) Scalia is fat. There’s definitely the possibility that these imply a false continuum of liberal-to-conservative (both among justices and among cases), but apart from that, pretty great graphic.
Scalia is fat!
My local cable access channel NCCTV has it’s own website! With a ton of the best programming I always try to DVR but always fail at!
I suggest the Dog News show. News hosted by dogs.
George Romero’s original ending to Dawn of the Dead:
Faced with the hordes of mindless zombies who’ve broken into their hidden makeshift home in a shopping mall - one of the last two survivors, Fran prepares a helicopter to escape with little fuel. Her friend Peter is downstairs waiting for Stephen to arrive before leaving. Stephen, zombified, arrives along with many others, the undead. Stephen unconciously remembers where they lived because he was once one of them. Peter kills him, then himself. Fran waits for Peter, he doesn’t arrive, she beheads herself in the helicopter. The end.
There is no hope for people trying to make a true change in this world. Such is the death of any true art that went mainstream, the death of any hopeful politician who needed enough votes to get elected, the mindlessness of any television broadcast that had to be okayed by several commitees. When the world is homogenized, things must be consumed, and people have to lead us to these things. Human nature is the same condition all over, rich and poor, smart and stupid, young and old - in a gradient of greed and stupidity. Oddly enough, the only real problem is that it just takes a while for the smartest people to realize it. Our freedom will fail us in the end.
The ending that Hollywood decided to shoot for George Romero:
Faced with the hordes of mindless zombies who’ve broken into their hidden makeshift home in a shopping mall - one of the last two survivors, Fran prepares a helicopter to escape with little fuel. He friend Peter is downstairs waiting for a friend to arrive before leaving. His friend arrives along with many others, the undead. He unconciously remembers where they lived because he was once one of them. Peter kills him, then the rest of the zombies in A-Team fashion and runs up to the roof. Peter and Fran escape in the helicopter. They did it!
Thanks for keeping me happy!
Born to die and you get to sit and watch your t.v. set
Believe the lies before your eyes, credit cards & apple pies
50 stars to blind your eyes 13 stripes to hypnotize
Free thought is gone you’ll never see you’re just a pawn
You’ll die tomorrow but today your empty dreams just fade away
Evaporate, dissolve to hate
While you survive and wait until a lifeless fate
Your stupid lives just piddle on
You slave for others and then you’re gone
I just can’t escape the lying
The moment we are born we’re dying and it’s such an ugly sight
We have no rights
We have no future
No reasons why
We’re born to die
Your dumb self can’t appreciate the freedom in my thoughts
The weak sense of autonomy when I’m drinking in my squat
That empty void was never filled
The dreams of others you helped kill, you’ll justify - will linger on
Don’t you know that dreams all die the day you’re born
We have no gods
There’s only ignorant bliss
No reasons why
We’re born to die
Gone to bed, god is dead
Lies & truth are in my head
Your history, society, economy
It isn’t me, it’s all on you
Reality, it’s what you do
It’s what you make, the truth in lies
The freedom dies, the mind it numbs, the spirit breaks
All our rights, it kills our future
Our reasons why
We’re born to die
A lot of people might say this is a bunch of naive paranoid garbage, but I think they’re 100% right. Congress has become useless, our basic freedoms and desires have absolutely no say in what happens in the world today. The game has played out over the course of the century, and we lost.
The grandson of a man who was involved in the 100% confirmed but 0% covered “Business Plot” to use a beloved WWI General and a militia of 100,000 ex-soldiers to overthrow FDR and install a fascist dictatorship to get out of the Great Depression and halt the New Deal, is the current President of the United States - George W. Bush.
Dick Cheney hears that 70% of Americans want us to leave Iraq, he says “so?”
The government asks AT&T and other Telecom companies to record millions upon millions of their clients conversations, they do it - and a bill has been advanced to the senate that will make them unaccountable for the breachings of our privacy (and destroy the chance of us seeing how extensive this breach was).
The Internet is being regulated by businesses and by 2010 will create tiered access to the most basic human right: information. The poorest get the least and worst, the richest get the most and get to publish.
The President suspends Habeas Corpus and right to trial for the sake of fighting “terror.”
Our problems are far deeper than Katrina, Iraq, 9/11, floods in the midwest, Walmart, the enviroment, and all the other bullshit that gives musicians “cred” for advocating and condemning. What we have to fight for is media plurality and freedom, what we have to fight against is mediocrity and greed.
These kinds activists are fucking cowards - they are too short-sighted in one field. If they would zoom out, they would see that the world is in the grips of a small group of people that are so evil and so unwilling to share their power, so untrustworthy in the potential of regular people, that they will make anybody under them a sycophant or a prisoner. If we had a proper government in place, these problems would be fixed without a second thought. They are fucking SIMPLE to solve - you just need someone in power with COMMON SENSE: the people themselves.
We have to get rid of this government - now.
